Welcome to the Project Liar Game site.
I set up this blog so to make it easy for you to find all of the releases.
Project Liar Game is a one man translation/scanlation team working on Liar Game (as the unimaginative name suggests). I've been interested in the idea of translating manga for a long time, but I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to do it on my own. I was finally inspired to take it up by Project Strikeout, another one man scanlation group, working on One Outs (another great manga by Shinobu Kaitani).
My editing skills are 'lacking' at best, but the translations themselves are solid, and hopefully it won't prevent you from enjoying the manga. I doubt I'll get any offers, but I'd be really grateful for an editor. If you want to do it, then please contact me.

Thank you for starting this up. I've been waiting for NULL to release more chapters. But they haven't done so for a while.
ReplyDeleteDid you honestly need to steal Null's project? Project theft is looked on as the height of disrespect in the scanlation community. You could at least have tried to ask Null if they would accept you as a translator for Liar Game. And even if they didn't, it'd be best to do an unscanlated series. Doing a project that's already grown popular under another group is just going to cause fighting and ill will. Nobody can stop you, but I think that it was a rash decision.
ReplyDeleteseriously! do we need to start this SAME argument whenever someone is nice enough to release a chapter for a manga that hasn't been released for over a month!? I mean, if it's about 'stealing projects', then go complain about the 10 to 20 groups fighting over releasing the jump series and tell some of them to be a bit more useful and try caring about these, ALREADY COMPLETED, projects a bit! I mean, seriously! I don't care who it is, and what 'rights' he has but if you actually care enough about these projects, then show us some progress, if you can't handle it, then just let another group handle it instead! what's so wrong about that? Null already has a million other projects to care about, so why not let us be a bit more happy and let other groups scan what they can't handle?! why have over 15 'active' projects if you only release 5-7 of them and rarely too!? you didn't buy the ownership of the project, you aren't releasing it, so you CANNOT complain! and to "Mr.Projectliargame", sorry for posting this 'speech' here, I just want to try and get my point around. thanks.
ReplyDeleteDo not listen to bad reviews, I like your work.
ReplyDeleteI read it at onemanga and I did not notice that it wasn't from NULL until I saw the credits.
And as "Rubber" said NULL has a million other projects.
I loved chapter 39 and 40
Don't let the negative comments discourage you. It would be one thing if Null released these chapters at a consistent, or at least scheduled basis, but it's so erratic that we end up getting three chapters one month, then cold turkey for eight weeks. I don't mean to criticize them, they have a myriad of projects to attend to so it cannot be helped, but the "first dibs" rule is painfully asinine. I must have missed the memo that said the reason for scanlating manga is to stroke the ego of the group working on it. If anything, competition on scanlating will only benefit, if the series means that much to them, they will try to compete with PLG to release chapters faster than he does.
ReplyDeleteBut my tirade aside, I wish you the best of luck on scanlating this manga. I always look forward to the days I check onemanga, and I see Liar Game chapters in the Recent Updates.

ReplyDeleteYou know. thanks for scanlating. but I'm gonna wait for Null. Unlike some people who only care about how fast their releases come out, I'm willing to wait for a higher quality release.
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't take *too* much offense or anything, since there are few groups that can beat Null's quality. Unfortunately, this isn't one of them. But nice effort. I flipped through some of it onemanga. I will say it's better than a lot of speed scans I've seen around. I would suggest using a bit more variety in fonts. Like, something different from just wild words. or at the very least, use the bold and italic features that come with the font rather than just varying the text size.
Good luck on finding an editor!
I found the quality to be decent. the pictures are clean and the translation is excellent!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the release

ReplyDeleteI highly agree with this, because of this project we were able to read Liar Game now, it could have taken weeks until Null does scanlation
Btw will there be more chapters soon? Since seems like you got volume 5 and there's chapter up to 49.
Thanks for the scanlations :>
Thanks for the support and the constructive criticism folks.
ReplyDeleteI guess I definitely should have looked into it more before taking it up. I never intended to 'steal' Null's project. I just thought people wanted to read Liar Game and there hadn't been any recent translations/scanlations. Seeing as I haven't done anything like this before, I had no idea about any unwritten code of scanlators type stuff. Basically, I never meant to stir up trouble, so please don't hate me.
I'm still gonna carry on with this till the end of Vol 5 (Ch 49 I think). By all means wait for Null's releases. I know more than anyone that their work is miles better than mine. You can't really expect it to be otherwise - I'm just one guy with no experience, and they're a whole bunch of guys with a ton of experience. If you can't wait to read Liar Game though, then maybe you want to check out my translations.
Hiya, I wanted to drop by and say that I really liked your work.
ReplyDeleteCall me a sell-out, but quality isn't a huge factor for me (I can't really see why it would be for anyone.....)(unless its REALLY bad) and I think that you do a good job.
Null has been holding out on Liar Game wayyyy to long, so long in fact, that when I saw a Liar Game release on onemanga I actually shouted with joy (it's a really good series).
I was wondering if you are looking for a proofreader, as I would be happy to do it for you, although I must admit that is my only real skill, although I probably could pick up cleaning or something.
Either way, good job!
If you need a hand send me an email at "pshaff2@gmail.com"
I agree with Anon above - personally I'm happy enough that someone is willing to take out time to translate the manga; the quality you were at is plenty good enough for me! I didn't even notice it was a different group! Keep it up ^^
